A father paid a friend to take a DNA test in a bid to avoid paying child maintenance fees for a baby he had with an ex-girlfriend, a court has heard. The mother did not tell Lloyd about the child's birth until 2023, when she made an application to the Child Maintenance Service naming him as the father. He strongly denied this was the case, refused to take a DNA test and even went as far as to claim he had no idea who the mother was. Prosecutor Harry Dickens told Cardiff Crown Court that the result of the DNA test was negative, though Lloyd's former partner refuted this claim, sparking an investigation. Mr Dickens said the potential loss to the Child Maintenance Service and the victims was in the region of £12,426.
