(CNN) Dr. Anthony Fauci said Thursday that even an effective Covid-19 vaccine won't replace the need for other public health measures, such as wearing a mask, social distancing and washing hands. "It is not going to eliminate the need to be prudent and careful with our public health measures," he said in a Facebook Live conversation with New Jersey Gov. Sources say the US Food and Drug Administration is considering new rules for authorizing a Covid-19 vaccine. Fauci's comments were made as nearly half of US states now report a rise in new Covid-19 cases . At least 21 states -- mostly across the US heartland and Midwest -- are reporting an increase in new Covid-19 cases compared to the previous week.
