The district and sessions judge’s court acquitted 16 others, including local BNP leader Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury Minar. On May 20, 2014, the local Awami League leader was killed in a daylight attack when his convoy was waylaid in the Feni district town. Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury MinarArmed assailants blocked his car, opened fire on the vehicle and set it ablaze with the chairman trapped inside. Among the arrestees, 15 confessed to court, said according to the public prosecutor. Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury alias Minar Chowdhury and 34 other suspects are behind bars.
