From a small start, this phenomenon has become as thoroughly American as Old Glory and apple pie:• Originally American: Coupons are an innovation born here. • Uniquely American: For sheer ubiquity, couponing is almost exclusively American. • Culturally American: Coupons are so ever present in our culture that we even had a blockbuster television show about it. In my opinion, if a phenomenon is long established, overwhelmingly adopted, and unique to our nation, it’s quintessentially American. As a part of and a reflection of our country, coupons are hard to beat.
