Fine Dining Chef Channels His Cooking Chops To Feeding The Hungry

Doherty founded Heavenly Harvest, a nonprofit organization that provides nutrient-dense, preservative-free foods to those in need at no cost to them. This fall Heavenly Harvest completes its first round of mass production, and 250,000 pouches will go to Feed the Children for distribution. Heavenly Harvest meals are fully cooked, shelf-stable for up to 12 months and claim to offer adequate nutrition according to USDA guidelines for an adult meal. A portion of sales from chef’s table meals and Foods for the Home go to the cause; each meal at the chef’s table, for example, yields a donation that equates to 12 Heavenly Harvest meals. Doherty continues to develop recipes for Foods for the Home and Heavenly Harvest, and his vision extends to one day raising enough funding to address hunger on an international level.
