Fire crews race to Auckland Ferry Terminal after reports of smoke in ferry engine room

The shift manager said the cause of the smoke was a high-pressure diesel line leak. “The leaking diesel dripped onto a hot part of the engine causing the smoke. “Fire crews have left the ship with the engineers for investigation.”A Fullers spokesperson said its crew “acted immediately in response to the situation” and “followed established safety protocols”. “We commend our crew for their calm, composed and skilled response which helped ensure the wellbeing and safety of all on board. We wish to thank the passengers for their cooperation with Fullers360’s crew.”Fullers said it is now liaising with Maritime New Zealand.
