Fire damage to Skyway 3, SMC facility at P1.2B – The Manila Times

THE total damage brought by the huge warehouse fire in Pandacan, Manila, which also triggered the collapse of a portion of the Skyway Stage 3 project, has amounted to more than a billion pesos, San Miguel Corp. (SMC) said. In a statement on Thursday, the conglomerate said the damage to this portion of the Skyway, including the facilities within the San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corp.’s Manila Plastics Plant 3, amounted to P1.2 billion. As a result, the opening of the Skyway 3 has also been delayed to July of this year instead of April. We are working double time to deliver the entire Skyway stage 3 project in five months’ time or by July. According to SMC, hot metal embers or welding slag apparently came into contact with cardboard boxes and other combustible materials, starting the fire.
