A firefighter was whisked to the hospital in critical condition after crews brought down a five-alarm blaze at a Humber Bay condo unit Thursday night, paramedics said. Flames started spreading through the three-storey building at 2067 Waterfront Dr., near Lake Shore Blvd. Although crews brought the fire under control, paramedics at the scene did CPR on the firefighter, a district chief. Speaking outside St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto Fire Chief Matthew Pegg said the situation was “about the worst-case scenario for any fire chief” but he was proud of how his team responded. “The crews did a magnificent job fighting this fire.”
