FIREFIGHTERS in Oxfordshire have backed potential industrial action over restructuring plans which could see Henley Fire Station closed. The West Street site is one of three on-call stations earmarked for closure as part of Oxfordshire County Council’s proposals. The county council, which runs the service, said it is considering shutting Henley, Woodstock and Eynsham stations due to “persistent low fire engine availability”. On Tuesday, the Fire Brigades Union announced the results of a consultative ballot which saw 94 per cent of its Oxfordshire members support the prospect of industrial action. “Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service is continuing to analyse the feedback received through our consultation.
