They immediately turned over the box to barangay tanod (village watchman) Alex Samosa who, upon opening it, found white powder which turned out to be cocaine. On Jan. 6, 2018, fishers also fished out P125 million worth of cocaine from the shoreline of Matnog, Sorsogon. In 2016, fishers in Tiwi, Albay also recovered 18 bricks of cocaine, estimated to cost about P100 million, floating in the waters of Barangay Sogod. Calubaquib said in total, illegal drugs syndicates operating in the country had dumped almost P500 million worth of cocaine in Bicol waters in the last three years.
