"There's a lot of people that are getting out on the ice a lot more than in the past," he said. In particular, ice fishing is seeing a heyday right now, attracting a certain type of angler eager to get out into nature and challenge the elements. "We've certainly noticed the number of ice fishing shacks is quite a bit higher on at least some of the central Alberta lakes this year. "It's a type of product that if you were to buy everything to go out ice fishing, you'd spend over a couple thousand dollars. "You know you go out ice fishing with a couple of buddies, relax and spend the day in a tent," he said.
