Following a protest which was staged in Boralanda, Bandarawela on Thursday (01), Sri Lanka police has stated that five people have been arrested for violating the quarantine rules and regulations by way of their participation. The suspects, who were produced before the Welimada Court, were enlarged on a Rs. 100,000/- personal bail each. Accordingly, the Police has also requested to arrest more suspects involved, however, the court ruled that an order is not necessary to conduct more arrests. Sri Lanka Police has since launched investigations to arrest Ex-Uva Provincial Council member of the JVP Samantha Vidyaratne, and National Organizer of the All Ceylon Farmers Federation Namal Karunaratne.
