Last night’s attack happened just before 10pm on the seventh night of the eight-day Jewish festival of lights. The attacker fled the scene by car in Monsey, New York state. The Orthodox community had been celebrating Chanukkah, a festival of lights which involves lighting the nine-candle menorah Allyse Pulliam/APAron Kohn, 65, who was at the house, told The New York Times that he was praying for his life. “He started attacking people right away as soon as he came in the door,” Mr Kohn said.
