Flood-hit businesses will now be able to claim up to €100,000 in emergency State support, after the Government agreed to expand the Emergency Humanitarian Flooding Scheme in response to the damage caused by Storm Chandra. “Businesses have taken an enormous hit, and we are determined to stand with them every step of the way,” Mr Burke said. Independent professional assessors appointed through the Irish Red Cross will determine the scale of damage and the level of funding required, it said. Minister Burke said the goal is to minimise downtime for employers and prevent longer-term economic impacts in flood-hit areas. Application details for the scheme are available through the Irish Red Cross website, it said.
