Flooding, slips, with more heavy rain to hit top of the countrySUPPLIED After a night of torrential rain parts of the upper North Island are underwater. MetService warned the heavy rain front bringing the downpours would drench the northern part of the country and bring and severe thunderstorms until early afternoon on Wednesday. MetService warned of the possibility of further flash flooding and slips, saying driving conditions in the upper North Island would be hazardous with surface flooding and poor visibility. In Kawakawa Bay 15 houses were affected by flooding, and slips on Turei Hill were preventing people getting out of the area. Significant flooding had occurred around Beachlands, affecting some properties, and slips were making some roads impassable, Civil Defence said.
