Flooding threatens Hanoi river slumThe water of Red River has risen after the recent Typhoon Dianmu, causing dozens of poor households living on the river bank difficulties. Many among the temporary and deteriorated houses on the dirty section of the Red River in Phuc Xa Ward, Ba Dinh District, have been submerged by heavy rains following the storm. Every day, they often get up around 3 am to go to work, leaving their children to take care of themselves. So, parents are worried about the future of their children who cannot go to public schools and receive proper healthcare without official residency. They have been living by Red River for many years, but without clean water and electricity.
