Report says this is a ‘one-off event’ as it points to Irish investment in AmericaForeign direct investment (FDI) flows to Ireland fell last year due to US firms repatriating capital, according to a new report from the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland. Between 2020 and the third quarter of last year, more US capital left ­Ireland than arrived, with a net outflow of $10.5bn (€9.1bn). The report is keen to stress FDI is a two-way street and that Ireland is among the top five countries investing in America. To address this skills deficit, Ireland needs to take decisive actionPaul Sweetman, chief executive of the American Chamber, said: “Irish companies employ over 200,000 people across all 50 US states. “To address this skills deficit, Ireland needs to take decisive action,” he said.
