After a journalist’s molestation case at ITO Metro station last year, the safety of women in connecting subways and adjoining dark areas of a Metro station became the point of argument. In a big relief to women passengers, CISF has developed “Flying Squads” to keep women in and around the metro stations safe. The all women combat-expert group - Flying Squads, will be deployed to patrol unpaid areas which were technically not covered by the force earlier. A senior CISF officer said 22 such Flying Squads have been formed so far specially keeping in mind the safety of women passengers. Last year, the force was reported 4394 crimes and the number of criminals apprehended was 965.
