A United States Department of Treasury grant for $800,000 has been accepted by the Lake County commissioners for Forbes House, Lake County’s only domestic violence shelter. Forbes House presently operates a 30-bed, year-round shelter with an average stay of 90 days, with all programs and services provided at no cost. “The renovations will allow the shelter to continue to be a haven in creating an environment of hope, healing and empowerment. “The Forbes House (team) has been making continuous improvement over the years to focus on the things they do best and we’ve made sure there’s adequate funding here so that they can bring in outside professionals to help them with project management,” said Commissioner John Hamercheck. “We are blessed to have Forbes House serving Lake County….they are truly worth the investment.”Clients are matched with government and nonprofit agencies in the area to find careers and long-term, safe housing.
