Forbes' published its latest World's Billionaires list on Tuesday, which showed 2021 was a "rough year" for billionaires, as there were 2,668 on Forbes' 36th-annual ranking of the planet's richest people, 87 fewer than a year ago. Those 2,668 billionaires were worth a collective $12.7 trillion in 2022, $400 billion less than in 2021. There were 34 fewer billionaires than last year in Russia following Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine and a Chinese crackdown on tech companies has led to 87 fewer billionaires from China on the list, Forbes wrote. The 2022 edition of the list also sees the first billionaires from Barbados, Bulgaria, Estonia and Uruguay. America had the most billionaires on the list with 735 billionaires worth a collective $4.7 trillion, with Elon Musk topping the World's Billionaires list for the first time, Forbes wrote.
