Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, a senior Congress leader, has passed away at the age of 79. The news of his death was announced by his son, Chandy Oommen, through a heartfelt Facebook post. Chandy and Baby Chandy, Oommen Chandy entered the political arena through the Kerala Students Union (KSU) and the Youth Congress. He was reappointed as Chief Minister in 2011 and also served as the Opposition Leader from 2006 to 2011. Oommen Chandy is survived by his wife, Mariamma Oommen, and his children, Achu Oommen, Maria Oommen, and Chandy Oommen.
