In a statement on Monday, March 9, Nejmeh Sporting Club announced that Fırat died while transiting through Istanbul after departing Beirut. In 2019, Fırat moved into international football management when he was appointed head coach of the Moldova national team. In 2026, he became head coach of Lebanese club Nejmeh Sporting Club where he served until his untimely passing.
