Former Studentlocalism member arrested for assisting fugitives

Former convenor of Studentlocalism Tony Chung Hon-lam was charged with secession, money laundering and conspiracy to publish seditious material. Officers from the police's national security department today arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with a probe into Tony Chung Hon-lam and two other young people linked to a pro-Hong Kong independence group. "Tim Luk has been arrested today by the National Security Agency for assisting fugitives," it wrote, adding that Luk has accepted legal assistance. Chung, a former convenor of Studentlocalism, was charged with secession – an offence that carries a maximum punishment of life behind bars. When the national security law was implemented at the end of June, Studentlocalism announced that it would cease to operate in Hong Kong but its members overseas would continue their activities.-RTHK
