According to police, the students – all aged 16 years and studying in class XI at a government school in Panapakkam – jumped into a well in Ramapuram in Avalur. The police were informed at 4 p.m.Villagers, along with the Fire and Rescue Services personnel, began their search for the girls. The bodies of three of the girls were recovered from the well, while search was on for the fourth.
