The "bomb cyclone" dominated headlines last week, but the flooding it caused in the U.S. Great Plains did not initially. Many communities, homes, and businesses in Nebraska and other parts of the Great Plains were literally underwater. The panel consisted of:One thing that we learned is that a tragic set of events came together to cause the dramatic flooding event. Most of the panel agreed that a combination of weather, water, climate, and infrastructure failure led to the disaster. Damage from flooding is often much different than what you see from wind-driven impacts resulting from a tornado or hurricane-related winds.
