The driver and a passenger reportedly fled the scene at East Common Lane before being tracked down by police. Two other men, who were in the back of the van, we also detained. ‌A police spokesperson said: "Officers were immediately deployed, and the man was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a life-threatening condition. A scene guard remains in place on East Common Lane whilst officers continue to carry out further lines of enquiry. A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to the 35-year-old man sustaining an injury whilst being detained.
