It is very hard to believe that France-24 TV channel does not verify the authenticity and accuracy of its sources through a combination of traditional journalistic standards and modern, technology-driven investigative techniques. This international channel, which is funded by the French foreign ministry, has been caught red-handed again spreading fake news against Morocco. In its program “Face-to-Face” program, France 24 Arabic channel used a fake X account posting fabricated statement attributed to Moroccan foreign minister Nasser Bourita, alleging $1 billion donation to the US-led Board of Peace. Following Moroccans widespread outrage over France 24 scandal, the French TV channel apologized and recognized its mistake viewed by many as a serious ethical breach fueling disinformation campaign targeting Rabat’s geostrategic interests. According to some experts, it is very unlikely that an international TV channel like France-24 would have been fooled easily by a fake X account as the media outlet has strict verification processes and abides by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) code.
