KARACHI: Prices of fresh milk have dropped significantly in the country’s commercial hub owing to the significant reduction in routine consumption of tea used at tea shops that are now closed. Abdul Wahab, a dairy farmer and wholesale supplier of milk told APP that the supply of milk has increased manifold but consumption has decreased due to the closure of tea shops and reduction in the use of other fresh milk products. It may be noted here that all tea shops along with lassi stalls and ready-to-drink-milk stalls have been out of business as the government scrambles to contain the coronavirus. Milk retailers have also placed banners and posters on their shops inscribed with curtailed prices to attract customers. Many of them have also marketed special offers to attract and persuade customers so as to increase their sale while a few vendors are giving 250 to 500 grams of milk free with one kilogramme of milk.
