User fees and rates are set to increase in the new year with transit, garbage and recycling, and recreation costs getting a bump. A bus or CTrain ride will cost an extra dime for adults in 2019, moving up to $3.40 per ride. Waste and recyclingThe city’s waste management fee is going away in 2019, but Calgarians will see a new $6.85 monthly charge for black cart services, which handle landfill waste. That cost used to be wrapped into property taxes, so its appearance in fees is more of a shift than a new charge. Blue cart recycling fees will increase 30 cents to $8.80 per month, while monthly green cart compost costs are jumping more than $2 to $8.65.
