The minimum wage could be hiked by more than 8% next year if the Department of Labour's National Minimum Wage Commission gets its way. It has proposed an adjustment to the wage in the range from CPI plus 0.5% and CPI plus 1% for 2023. Eskom's hopes of importing its own diesel have been dashed after the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy rejected the power utility's application for a diesel wholesale licence. The licence could have saved Eskom billions in diesel and fuel oil costs each year.
