GDB Holdings secures RM115 mil contract to build water treatment plant in Sarawak


KUALA LUMPUR (March 18): GDB Holdings Bhd (KL:GDB) said it has been appointed as a subcontractor to undertake the construction of a new water treatment plant in Sarawak for RM115.52 million. The 36-month subcontract to build the plant at Song district in Kapit division was awarded by Pembinaan JBS Sdn Bhd, with work starting this month, the construction services company said in a statement on Wednesday. The scope of the works includes surveying, site clearing, pipe works, rainwater intake facilities, water treatment plant facilities, protection and relocation of existing utility services, as well as mechanical and electrical services. Executive director and acting group managing director Andy Lai Wee Young said that the contract marks the company’s expansion into water treatment plants. GDB now has an operational regional office in Kuching and will be establishing a regional office in Kota Kinabalu by June this year.
