Security forces put down an attempted coup in Gabon, said government and military officials in the Central African nation that has been pillar of stability in the region and a key U.S. ally. Tanks and soldiers patrolled the empty streets of Gabon’s seaside capital Libreville and internet services throughout the country were shut down.
