Gachagua promises to end KU, hospital land tussle in January

The government has convened a meeting between Kenyatta University and the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital to iron out the land dispute. The dispute started when KUTRH reportedly hived off 200 acres of the disputed land to construct World Health Organization (WHO) offices. WHO is currently housed within the precincts of the referral hospital. KU vice chancellor Prof Paul Wainana had argued that the parcel was set aside for the construction of a children’s hospital after KUTRH was made a parastatal. However, KUTRH chairperson Prof Olive Mugenda defended the move saying all lands belong to the government.
