A man with a gambling problem spent months plotting to kidnap one of China’s richest men, according to a police account of the episode. The plot ended Monday, when police in the southeastern city of Foshan arrested the gambler and four other men after a break-in at the luxury villa of He Xiangjian, the founder of Midea Group Co., one of China’s biggest home-appliance manufacturers.
