more-inVIRUDHUNAGARIn an effort to keep the surroundings clean without causing any inconvenience to the people, Virudhunagar Municipality has launched a mass cleaning campaign at night. As part of the efforts, Project Director (District Rural Development Agency) Tilakavathi and Assistant Director (Panchayats) Kadarmir assessed manpower requirements for night cleaning operation. On Saturday (January 13) night, municipality conservancy workers were spread to different locations, including Periyarpalayam, Paranginathapuram, Pullalakottai Road, Railway Feeder Road, Aruppukottai Road and B1B1 Road. Garbage generated by markets and restaurants, which closed by night, could be removed at night itself, they said. The municipality officials said on an average, the conservancy workers removed close to 50 tonnes of garbage from the town.
