Gardaí monitoring local bog fireGardaí in Athlone have been monitoring a fire over a large area of Glynwood bog since late last night. There was no immediate threat to property or homes, so it was decided Gardaí would monitor the situation overnight. A Garda spokesperson said the fire has died down since and is smouldering at present. The remnants of the fire can be seen over a large area of the bog, close to Baylin. Fire services are expected in the area later this morning.
