The 89 members of An Garda Síochána who have died in the course of their duties were remembered in moving ceremony at the Garda Memorial Garden in Dublin Castle, on Saturday. In the 99 years since the force was established 89 members of the force have lost their lives in the line of service. Both chaplains spoke of the family and friends of the fallen gardaí as well as the retired members of the force. He especially remembered Detective Garda Colm Horkan who died in Castlerea Co Roscommon on June 17th, 2020. He said it was “the mission of An Garda Síochána to keep the people of Ireland safe.
