Mikel Arteta is keen on securing a move for Maddison this summer with Arsenal in the market for a new attacking midfielder. Arsenal are now understood to be lining up an offer to Leicester City and are prepared to make Maddison one of their highest earners at the club. But Lineker, a boyhood Leicester City fan, has urged the midfielder to reject a switch to Arsenal this summer. In his response to a tweet which claimed Arsenal are preparing a move for Maddison, Lineker replied: ‘From my experience, taking a backward step never ends well.
