The letter was copied to the chief director of mining and energy Kisumu county, the acting city planner, area MCA, the Kisumu senator and the governor. The firm is behind the proposed construction of the gas plant in Nyalenda . The future of a multi-million shilling bulk liquefied petroleum gas storage project hangs in the balance after the Kisumu county directed that it be stopped following objections from the community on its location. Through a letter dated May 9, addressed to the directors of Enrold East Africa Limited, Amit Penchmatia and Neeral Panchmapia, acting city planner S K Mwongo directed that construction of the gas plant be stopped. Nyalenda residents, through their chairman, Jeff Oluoch, had earlier written to the acting city planner petitioning him to stop Bachulal Company from constructing a gas plant in the area, which they claimed posed environmental threats to them.
