Genetic analysis research on Covid varieties that have spread in the country is scheduled to commence from today (28). However, the results of the research will be released within seven days, said Dr. Chandima Jeewandara, Director, Institute of Allergy and Immunology and Cell Biology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Several infected delta species have been identified in Sri Lanka which are currently spreading rapidly in India. Dr. Chandima Jeewandara further stated that the Delta variety is spreading rapidly in those identified areas. The Delta variety is twice as prevalent as the Alpha variety, and it is possible to find out how it spreads throughout the country.
