He hung his boots as an active player in 2003, but at 51, football legend George Weah’s age is just a number. Over the weekend, Weah again showed some members of the current generation who were not opportune to watch him play during his active football career, why he was considered so good in his heyday. As part of events marking his inauguration as president of Liberia, the 1995 FIFA World Player of the Year led his team, Weah All Stars, to a 2-1 victory against Armed Forces of Liberia at the Barclay Training Center. Weah All Stars is comprised of former national team players who played alongside Weah for the Lone Star during their active football careers. He was also named African Player of the Century in 1996.
