Getting into the tongue and groove of the wild side of Fota Island


Alongside the serious wildlife conservation and education work being done at Fota, there’s no shortage of fun in this new TV series, says Rita de Brún. The lakes at Fota froze over, and zookeeper Willie Duffy knew the monkeys would be needing their breakfast. Chatting with the Irish Examiner about the show, Andrea modestly says: “It follows the work of the Fota rangers. “We’re like Noah’s Ark here at Fota, saving the animals,” says head ranger Willy Duffy. Part one of Fota: Into the Wild, a documentary showcasing Fota Wildlife Park, aired last night at 8pm on Virgin Media One, and continues for the next three Sundays.
