A solar-powered irrigation system has been handed over to a group of farmers in Ghana’s North Gonja District of the Savannah Region. The system was handed to the Disa community by the Market-Oriented Agricultural Programme (MOAP NW) under the European Union Ghana Agricultural Programme (EU- GAP). Around 40 vegetable farmers – three men and 37 women – are set to benefit from this project. The Disa community project was supervised by Johnny Royals Construction Engineering, Ghana state media reported. Solar-powered plant to mainly support women farmers in GhanaMOAP NW Agriculture Finance Consultant Andrew Herbard said the construction of the solar-automated groundwater micro-irrigation scheme began last November.
