On Saturday, it was announced that Villanova graduate guard Collin Gillespie was awarded the 2022 Bob Cousy Award, given annually to the nation’s top point guard. Gillespie becomes the second Villanova player to win the award, as Jalen Brunson took home the honor in 2018. Gillespie beat out Baylor’s James Akinjo, Kentucky’s Sahvir Wheeler, Gonzaga’s Andrew Nembhard and UCLA’s Tyger Campbell for the award. The award, facilitated by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, is one of many this season for Gillespie. Other past winners of the Cousy award include NBA All-Stars Ja Morant and Kemba Walker.
