Emergency services were called to Monton Road in the suburb of Monton at about 10.40am after reports of a collision between a blue Vauxhall Corsa and a pedestrian. The child was pronounced dead at the scene. A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is being held in custody, Greater Manchester police (GMP) said. Monton Road remains closed between Cavendish Road and Half Edge Lane, the force said.
