Reactionary statements have consequently been issued with the US expressing concerns about China’s ‘destabilising’ actions. Effectively, it has set global expectations that the conflict will escalate further and has shied away from encouraging peace and resolution. The global community must play its part in maintaining its neutrality and proposing avenues through which peace can be attained. A country like the US, which has often flexed its global credentials is supposed to honour its promise of promoting reconciliation, regardless of its relations with concerned parties. In a time like this, what matters the most is how the global community can help two parties come to a peaceful resolution and it must do well to remember this responsibility.
