GLOBE Telecom Inc. continues to ramp up the rollout of its scan-to-pay system with a new partnership signed with Henry Sy’s SM on Friday. Ernest Cu, Globe president and chief executive officer, told reporters following the media launch the partnership with SM is expected to result in “more partnerships” in the use of the QR code payment system. “[Because] the profile of SM is very high and if SM accepts us, then it should be acceptable to most establishments in the Philippines,” he said. “We’re not installing a device but just a sticker with a QR code. He said the partnership with the mall operator allows consumers to use their smartphones to purchase at all SM Store outlets and information booths of SM Malls across the country.
