Lyndsey Davey asks the question rhetorically – “Sure what else are you going to do?” – as she reflects on her decision to return to the Dublin ladies footballers for an 18th consecutive season. “I definitely made the right decision going back.”The four-in-a-row champions open their campaign today in the TG4 Championship, squaring off against Tyrone at Kingspan Breffni. “When you look at the year previous, 56,000 supporters cheering us on and the atmosphere, just to see how far we’ve come as a sport with getting that amount of support behind us is fantastic. In time-honoured tradition, of course, Davey and her team-mates refuse to cast their sights too far up the road. “During the off-season, my decision was probably going to be based on a lot of the other girls,” says Davey.
