(Photo: Somchai Poomlard)NEW YORK — Gold rose to a record high — the 50th day it has done so this year — on escalating geopolitical tensions and prospects for more US rate cuts. Silver rose as much as 1.4% to within a cent of $70 an ounce. Spot gold rose 0.9% to $4,484.18 an ounce as of 11.52am in Singapore, having hit a record of $4,497.74 earlier. In Thailand, gold prices rose 900 baht on Tuesday morning. The buying and selling prices were 65,850 and 65,950 baht for bullion, and 64,536.12 and 66,750 baht for gold ornaments.
