India Today earlier reported that nearly 36,000 BEST workers would stay off duty starting tomorrow, potentially inconveniencing as many as 30 lakh daily commuters in Maximum City. BEST workers have also been irked by late payments and by their organisation's dwindling finances. The BEST Sanyukta Kamgar Kriti Samiti (BSKKS), a joint action committee formed by all major labour unions (including BEST Kamagar Sena) has been on a chain hunger strike outside Wadala BEST depot since August 1.
